I enjoyed the two recording studios we had and tours of and the Elvis Pressley and Tina Turner stops. The Grand Ole Opry (old and new) were good.
The flight from Sacramento to New Orleans should have been direct. There was too much driving on the bus between points of interest. We were required to get up early each day. It would have been nice to spend two nights at each hotel - there was much packing and unpacking.
There was a lot of standing and walking when we were off the bus.
We had a terrific bus driver but a so-so tour guide.

NOLA jazz, Memphis Elvis immersion, Nashville country music - who could ask for more?!? I particularly enjoyed our bus tour thru Memphis narrated by local guide, Cecil, with his guitar. Not only did we pass famed Beale Street but we also passed the federal building where a scene in "Silence of the Lambs" was filmed, Danny Thomas's St. Jude Hospital where pediatric cancer miracles occur, & the Lorraine Hotel where MLK was shot. On top of this, Cecil told us everything about Elvis from the time he arrived in Memphis @ age 13 til he left Sun Records for RCA in his mid- twenties. Plus Cecil strummed his guitar and sang songs pertinent to everything we were seeing. It was truly an outstanding overview of everything Memphis.

This was my first experience with Collette and it was fabulous. Our guide, .Steve Mayer was so personable and prepared for this group. We saw all that was necessary and more, had great meals and made some new friends. I was very happy with your booking person and was sure at the perks of being given transportation to the airports and home. The pre travel package was clear and precise and easy to follow. The accommodations were really nice and I felt very safe during the whole trip. The only negative part of the trip was at the hotel in New Orleans. The lock on door to the room was defective making it hard to close. The safe didn’t work, it really needed a new battery. The lightbulbs in the lamps didn’t work.We were there for four nights and for two of those nights we had no hot water and on one more we had no water at all. The hotel gave us two other rooms on the same floor to take showers..one also had no water and the other had no hot water. No one else in our group had water issues. The lock was never fixed, they replaced a few bulbs. Steve tried to offer us reimbursement for a meal, but we refused because it was not his or Collette’s fault. That room should have been checked. They did offer to.
move us at 11 p.m. but we had been up since 4a.m. traveling and we were already in bed. This is no way is a reflection o your company and we just chalked it up to travel mishaps. No one was hurt inconvenienced. We will definitely consider traveling with Collette on the future, as a matter of fact we are making plans to travel with a couple we met on their tour!

The transportation to and from the airport was not handled well; first, it was not offered to me until I discovered that other on the trip were being given the service and asked about it; secondly, the limo service was given an incomplete address to our home, and thirdly I never was notified that Collette had arranged for a return limo service on our return from the trip so we had to arrange for and pay for our own trip home. The goodbye meal was really poor with very bad service. The hotels were great and most experiences on tour were very good. We had an excellent tour guide. Because we had very little time to spend in our hotel in Nashville (the hotel was very beautiful), it would have been nice to be put in a hotel in the city itself.

NOLA! Bourbon Street, the cemetery tour, a riverboat cruise, getting to hold a baby alligator! All exciting and first time experiences! Memphis' Graceland was a step back in time. I felt Beale Street was a little seedy, but that's just me. The tour of Sun City Studio was so interesting. Our on-board singer as we traveled to various city sites was so good. It was great fun singing along with her.
Nashville was the most fun! Every bar was a venue for country music groups. Loved the Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole' Opry. Making a recording at Studio B was great fun! Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans need more efficient staff. When I arrived, tired from long journey, it took Staff nearly two hours to sort out my room. I had added three nights before the tour and had been assured that I would be given the same room throughout my stay. I was given a low floor room facing ugly buildings. I Mississippi view would have been nice. I don’t eat breakfast and was prevented from making a bacon sandwich to take out. It was difficult to obtain tea for use in the room. The shower was not suitable for an amputee, although I had explained my requirements. I had paid for a room wit a VIP ticket to the JazzFest, but no record of this was available to front of house staff. Eventually, the events manager organised a regular entry ticket. I spent many hours negotiating room for 3 extra nights, tea, shower, and JazzFest ticket, which spoiled my experience of staying at the Sheraton. I heard other tour guests complain about incompetent hotel staff. Another complaint about early breakfast was thr staff were slow allocating seating and waiting for drinks and gluten free bread/toast. The lack of any tomatoes or mushrooms. I am not a vegetarian, but omelette, fried/scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon are a bit heavy on their own before 7.30am. Perhaps tour days start to early for this hotel to cope with early breakfasts! I will not use Sheraton Hotels again. I am happy for you to pass my complaints onto Sheraton.

Then they let us record our group singing an Elvis tune, and just 10 minutes later they handed each of us the CD of our recording that they had just produced. How cool was that ?? We were all thrilled, and later referred to ourselves as "recorded artists!"

Best to have the tour manager tell you what is involved. I called and spoke to agents but they weren't positive about either. All but 2 took the bus tour and you saw much more than you would when you walk. We would not have seen Esplanade Ave, the cemeteries and more if we walked. I loved the majority of this trip...I had already been to New Orleans and would have preferred the bus tour to the walking tour in the French
This was a great tour for me, since I love music...given the mobility and age of the group, it would have been better to do a morning sight-seeing tour of New Orleans by bus as opposed to the walking tour of the French Quarter,,which really could be done on your own since our hotel was basically in the French Quarter, I personally would have preferred this because I wanted to get a feel of other parts of the city ie the Garden District, Treme etc. Other than that it was a great tour for me... I cant say the same for others as they only seemed to be interested in Graceland ,,
Also, some of the restaurants were better than others, especially in New Orleans... I would have preferred a different restaurant in Memphis...All in all, it was a comprehensive tour with a wonderful and accommodating tour guide...Derek was just the best....

Well worth upgrading your room here for spectacular views of lush gardens with waterfalls, bridges and walkways under atrium roof. Jazz cruise on Natchez Steamboat was super relaxing with live Jazz band music wafting out to the decks. Cookery demonstration enjoyable and informative. Every city has must-sees not least of all Memphis's Graceland. An A1 touring holiday.

Collette runs you hard, but you see a lot of places and get your money's worth. I would like to have seen the Blues Museum in Clarksdale, MS, and the Stax Museum in Memphis. An additional day or two would optimize the arrangement for me. One more night in NOLA, and one in MS or Memphis. Haydee the guide was organized but not bossy, just the right personality to keep the multitude moving. Sun, RCA Studio B, Ryman and Opry were all "memorable favorites". I will not rank them. I am agile for age 73, but it is nice that my many fellow guests with canes or rollaters were able to participate. I think this was a BUCKET project for many of us. The tour was good. I know that the tour was a little fast paced so we got to see a lot, but I would have liked to have spent a little more time in New Orleans. I may go back there and spend a week just in New Orleans. Overall, the accommodations were very nice. The only complaint I have is that at the Sheraton in New Orleans. The bathtub was slanted and very slick. Not very amenable to an old person taking a shower. I especially liked the Inn at Ole Miss. Very charming and quiet.
Some of the issues I had were just with my own ability to get around and own endurance level. The tour guide Hadee and the tour bus driver Derrick Fairley were absolutely wonderful. So very, very attentive, friendly and entertaining. Of the places we went I believe Nashville was my favorite because I got to see the Grand Ole Opry and the historic Rymon auditorium!!! What a party town!!
My only complaints are with booking air travel. When I originally booked the trip I had requested nonstop flights both to New Orleans and coming back from Nashville. At the time of booking, I was unable to get nonstop flights myself online so that’s why I called to speak to someone at Colette. The agent and I spoke to had difficulty booking the nonstop flight at the beginning, but said she had successfully done so. However, when I received my receipt and itinerary, it showed that I had layovers both going and coming back. I should have pitched a big fit at that time because I had paid for nonstop. I ended up having to cancel that trip and reschedule. I once again got the layovers both to New Orleans and coming back from Nashville. Due to an issue with the American Airlines flight, I ended up being at the airport for 11 hours and getting rescheduled onto a United airline flight that was nonstop. Coming back from Nashville I was so tired the day before I knew that I could not handle going one and a half hours from Nashville to Charlotte and then sitting in an airport for three more hours and taking a 3 1/2 hour flight from Charlotte to Denver. So I rescheduled with United on my own. At great cost I might add. Again, I will say that the airline booking through Colette needs a lot of work. They don’t include the cost of the airline when you get your receipt and itinerary. They put that is to be determined even though they’ve already charged you. I think that is a total rip off by Colette. If they can’t get nonstop flights then they should hold off on charging you for any flights until something is available and they can book you.

The flight from Sacramento to New Orleans should have been direct. There was too much driving on the bus between points of interest. We were required to get up early each day. It would have been nice to spend two nights at each hotel - there was much packing and unpacking.

On top of this, Cecil told us everything about Elvis from the time he arrived in Memphis @ age 13 til he left Sun Records for RCA in his mid- twenties.

I particularly liked listening to Jazz in New Orleans; visiting the interactive museums, visiting Graceland and Studio B as well as the Grand Ole Opry. I bonded with the loveliest people who shared these experiences with me. Equally important were the accommodations were excellent and food delicious and plentiful. Last but not least was Michael , our tour guide, who made sure that everyone was involved and was very responsive to questions and special needs. The Bus Driver Drew was especially supportive and helpful, particularly when I locked myself out of my room. Kudus to CSA Travel Director Gary and his lovely wife for joining us on this adventure. Most arrangements were done well or as expected but some were really poorly done.

Elvis' home was pretty much as I expected it to be. Hardly extravagant by today's standards, it was a place he loved and felt save. It was both a little sad, and enlightening.
The guide filled us in on all the famous people, besides Elvis, who recorded there. She reminded us to stand on the blue X where he stood, but discouraged kissing it! Bethany emailed us a link to hear ourselves singing. Such a thoughtful gesture on her part!

Gaylord Opryland hotel was spectacular. After that nothing quite was the same. The other hotels were good, but not spectacular like tapas hotel. There were so many experiences.....the grand ole Opry,Graceland and the French quarter were fabulous.

It had everything I wanted to see. too much walking for my husband I think should have been a 3. I don't think you should have to choose a walking tour or a bus tour at time of signing up. Best to have the tour manager tell you what is involved. I called and spoke to agents but they weren't positive about either. All but 2 took the bus tour and you saw much more than you would when you walk. We would not have seen Esplanade Ave, the cemeteries and more if we walked. I believe the walk was just the French Quarter and a little more. Loved the bus tour!

The tour overall was only average, just! Most memorable for me was our visit to The Grand Ole Opry plus the friendliness of the other passengers on the coach. Should have been Graceland but not enough time allowed to have a proper look round.

I cannot speak highly enough of this tour "American Music Cities" April 2016. My first holiday with Collette and it was just the best experience. Derek Moscarelli our tour manager should come to England to teach other tour managers 'how to' everything, he was brilliant. The itinerary is well thought out and hotels exceptional especially Gaylord Grand Opry.
